Bringing the human perspective to technology
R T Scanlon has worked in education, management and other practical roles, experience that has shaped his interest in how people learn, make decisions and use tools effectively.
He taught Design and Technology and Information Technology, and later held middle and senior management responsibilities. He holds a Bachelor of Education, a BA (Honours) in Professional Education Studies and an MBA, with a dissertation focused on quality assurance.
That combination of teaching, management and quality assurance informs a recurring theme in his writing: new technology can be enormously useful, but understanding, verification and responsibility cannot simply be delegated away.
Why write about AI?
AI is already affecting everyday tasks, professional work and organisational decisions. R T Scanlon's three-book collection examines how people can use it confidently, direct it responsibly and preserve their own capabilities as it becomes more powerful.
The books address different readers and offer practical guidance, ideas for leadership and proposals for maintaining meaningful human oversight. They do not suggest that a particular future is inevitable; they ask how people can help shape a better one.
